ILFORD TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE - CUP COMPETITIONS 2007/08

Cup formats

The division 1 cup, division 3 cup and Handicap cup will be played on a knockout basis.

The cup matches in division 2 will be on a round-robin basis (to compensate for lack of league matches). The winner of group A will meet the winner of group B in the final.

Players must play in strict ranking order. A player playing for a team in any one competition is cup-tied to that team for that competition. Please ensure that all team captains have a copy of your club’s ranking list.

Winning teams are responsible for ensuring that the result card reaches the Competitions Secretary by the deadline. NO MATCHES ARE TO BE PLAYED AFTER THE DEADLINE, WITHOUT PRIOR AGREEMENT OF THE COMPETITIONS SECRETARY. This means that private postponements will not be permitted. Being unable to field your strongest team will not be accepted as a reason for postponing the match.

PLEASE pass this information on to your team captains, otherwise teams will be penalised.

Attached is the complete draw for all the competitions. If you have a "bye", the winner of the first-round match will contact you.

It is the responsibility of the home team to contact the away team to confirm the date of the match.

A result card has been enclosed for each team in each competition. Take this to the match, where only the home team’s card will be completed on the night. The away team’s card should be given to the winning team, for use in the next round. Please contact the Competitions Secretary for details of your next-round opponent.

Deadlines for rounds are:-

28/10/07 First round of the "Handicap".

11/11/07 First round of the Divisional cups.

09/12/07 Second round of the "Handicap".

16/12/07 Second round of the Divisional cups.

03/02/08 Third round of handicap and divisional cups.

16/03/08 Final of all divisional cup competitions.

13/04/08 Final of Handicap cup.

All cup matches except the Handicap cup will be the best of five games up to 11 points. The Handicap cup will comprise four games up to 11 points (i.e. maximum 44 points, no deuces).

To qualify to play in the final of any competition, each player must have played a minimum of six league matches for that team. Qualification for previous rounds is determined by the key number shown in the handbook fixtures.

Please note that the home team will play as ABC and the away team will be XYZ. Please ensure that the winning team’s name is entered at the foot of the card.
